Welcome to Ubuntu Academic Institute (“UAI,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern the submission of applications and enrolment in our courses. By submitting an application or enrolling in our courses, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, please do not submit an application or enrol in our courses.

1. Application Process

a. Eligibility

To submit an application, you must meet the eligibility requirements for the specific course you are applying for, as outlined on our website www.uaiedu.co.za. By applying, you represent and warrant that you meet these eligibility criteria.

b. Application Submission

Applications must be submitted through our online application portal. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information in your application. False, misleading, or incomplete information may result in the rejection of your application or termination of your enrolment.

c. Application Fee

An application fee may be required to process your application. This fee is non-refundable, except as required by applicable law. Details of any application fees will be provided during the application process.

2. Enrolment

a. Acceptance

Upon acceptance of your application, you will receive an official offer of enrolment from UAI. Your enrolment is not confirmed until you have accepted the offer and paid any required fees.

b. Payment of Fees

All course fees must be paid in full by the specified due date. Payment plans may be available at our discretion. Failure to pay course fees on time may result in the cancellation of your enrolment.

c. Course Materials

Course materials will be provided to enrolled students either in digital format or as otherwise specified. You agree to use these materials solely for your personal educational purposes and not to distribute them without our permission.

3. Cancellation and Refunds

a. Cancellation by Student

You may cancel your enrolment by providing written notice to UAI. The following refund policy applies:

  • Before Course Start Date: If you cancel at least 40 days before the course start date, you may be eligible for a partial refund, less any non-refundable fees.
  • After Course Start Date: No refunds will be issued once the course has started, except as required by applicable law.

b. Cancellation by UAI

UAI reserves the right to cancel courses due to insufficient enrolment or other unforeseen circumstances. If a course is cancelled by UAI, you will receive a full refund of any course fees paid.

4. Code of Conduct

As a student of UAI, you agree to adhere to our Code of Conduct, which includes, but is not limited to, the following:

  • Treating all staff, instructors, and fellow students with respect.
  • Not engaging in any form of academic dishonesty, including plagiarism and cheating.
  • Complying with all course requirements and deadlines.
  • Not disrupting the learning environment or violating the rights of others.

Violation of the Code of Conduct may result in disciplinary action, including termination of enrolment.

5. Intellectual Property

All course content, including but not limited to lectures, course materials, and assessments, is the property of UAI or its licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from any course content without our express written permission.

6. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, UAI and its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, agents, and licensors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses, resulting from (i) your enrolment or inability to enrol in our courses; (ii) any unauthorized access to or use of our servers and/or any personal information stored therein; or (iii) any other matter relating to your application or enrolment.

7. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of South Africa, without regard to its conflict of law principles. You agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in South Africa to resolve any dispute arising out of these Terms or your application and enrolment.

8. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time in our sole discretion. If we make material changes, we will notify you by posting the updated Terms on our website and updating the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Your continued submission of applications or enrolment in courses after any such changes constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms.
